Since we posted our last article on the BMW X6, we have received many emails inquiring about the diesel engines that will be available on the X6. Even the guys at jalopnik.com were wondering if there is anything fishy going on. Everyone seems confused because BMW is listing in their document that the diesel engines found in xDrive30d and xDrive35d have the same capacity, 3.0L but one of them outputs 235HP while the other 286HP.
The reason why there is such a difference in the horsepower numbers is because the xDrive35d's engine is a twin-turbo, similar to the ones in the 335i, and the xDrive30d has only one turbo, a normal thing in the diesel engines.
I hope this clarifies the confusion.
