Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. The BMW M2 is finally here and we can see it in all of its unhidden glory. Here at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, BMW took the wrapping off of its latest M car. BMW fans have been waiting with bated breathe for the release of the BMW M2 ever since we got word that it was coming. It’s been the most hotly anticipated car from the Bavarian brand since…well, I can’t think of another BMW that was so incredibly anticipated.

Anyway, it’s here and it looks fantastic.

We’ve long had the opinion that the 2 Series is one of BMW’s best looking model lines and now that we’ve seen the BMW M2, it’s only confirmation of our claim. The M2 could be the best looking BMW on the market today. It looks positively aggressive and like it can take anything down on the race track. Being based on the 2 Series, the M2 has a beautiful profile an gorgeous lines. But, being a proper M car, it also has aggressive flared wheel arches and a mean stance. It’s wide, low and angry looking.

The inside isn’t much different than the M235i that now sits beneath it. However, does this really matter? The M2 isn’t about creature comforts or interior luxuries, it’s about driving and driving fast. Having said that, the interior is good looking and very functional, much like the M235i. It’s a perfect vessel to allow driver’s to drive this beast.

The M2’s 370 hp 3.0 liter turbocharged I6 makes it devilishly fast, getting from 0-60 in just over four seconds and its 343 lb-ft of torque (369 lb-ft for temporary overboost) allows it to roast its rear tires on command. The M2 looks great, should be incredible fun and will be amazingly fast. We’re so happy it’s finally here.
