BMW Germany handed over today 32 full-electric i3 cars to the Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann in the BMW Welt. Compact charging stations are used throughout Bavaria at the locations of the Bavarian State Construction Administration and the Supreme Building Authority. A total of around 1,100 BMW i3s are already on the road all over Germany used by employees of the state.

In addition to Minister of State Joachim Herrmann, the 32 future BMW i3 drivers came to the BMW Welt to receive their cars. There they were greeted by Peter Mey, head of BMW’s Munich branch, and Helmut Käs, head of BMW Welt.

As part of the Federal Government’s “Future Offensive Electromobility”, the BMW i3 will complement the fleet of all state building authorities, the motorway directorates, the state building authorities and the supreme building authority.

Herrmann was enthusiastically impressed by the concept of the electric motor: “Electromobility has the potential as a future-oriented technology to reduce pollutant emissions, improve air quality in heavily traffic-impacted cities and reduce traffic noise. With our procurement initiative, we are giving impulses for the electric drive and giving new impetus to this future technology. ”

Peter Mey (Head of BMW Munich Branch): “We are moving forward with electric mobility in Germany. We already offer eight electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in many different series in Germany and are therefore a leader in the competition. With its maneuverability and the locally emission-free BMW eDrive electric drive, the BMW i3 is able to fully exploit its strengths, particularly in the urban environment, and is thus ideally suited as a company vehicle for companies and authorities. ”
