A report put out earlier by Motor Authority mentions the possibility of a BMW M1 Concept arriving next month at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance. Their report was based on a press release issued earlier today by BMW of North America which made reference to several cars being displayed in Pebble, including a world premiere.

“In celebration of its 100th anniversary, BMW of North America will unveil a world premier concept car and a very special, freshly restored classic BMW during its annual press conference which this year will take place at the BMW Living Legends Garage at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca,” said the press release.

According to our sources, the concept in question is not an M1 Supercar, yet still an exciting sporty concept. More on that in the upcoming weeks.

Considering that BMW is focusing their efforts on mostly highly efficient cars and future self-driving vehicles, the odds of seeing an M Supercar get slimmer and slimmer everyday. In the last decade, according to our own sources, there were several supercar prototypes designed, built and presented to the board, but none of them received the final blessing. That’s not to say that BMW won’t surprise us in the future, but for now, that’s just not the case.
