In the search for the fiercest opponent for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, one doesn’t have to think twice: not only the dimensions make it clear, but also the position in the market, Mercedes-Benz B-Class is at close as it can get to the 2 Series Active Tourer.

Already offered in a second generation, Mercedes-Benz B-Class has similar proportions and design ideas as the new 2 Series Active Tourer, even though one may argue that the latter one is slightly more dynamic looking.

Compared to the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, Mercedes-Benz B-Class is 2 centimeters longer, 1.5 centimeters narrower and nearly three centimeters shallower. Whether these small deviations cause also noticeable differences in the interior space remains to be seen. Someone that wants even more cabin space can opt for the seven seats 2 Series Active Tourer.

Both models come standard with a front-wheel drive configuration, and optional for both models there is also an all-wheel drive. BMW has yet to reveal when the xDrive 2 Series Active Tourer will be available.

The Bavarians are lip-tight when it comes to pricing, but we expect a similar price point as the B-Class, somewhere around 27,000 Euros.
