MotorWeek gives a fair and thorough review of the BMW 1M. The media outlet touches on some of the things that make the 1M a great car, but also points some of its shortcomings.

The 1M was put through its paces on the road and test track. The 1M comes equipped with a BMW M-power twin turbo inline six-cylinder engine rated at 335 HP at 5900 RPM and 332 lb-ft of torque from 1500 to 4500 RPM. An additional 37 lb-ft of torque is available in temporary ‘overboost’ mode whilst under full load. “Baby M” hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.1 seconds, and to quarter mile in 13. seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

The new 1 Series M Coupe continues to remain a rarity on U.S. roads with just a few hundred units delivered to customers so far with the demand remaining high. In the United States, the 1M has a base price of $47,010, including destination charges. As on all the other markets, BMW offers the 1M in three colors: Valencia Orange Metallic, Alpine White and Sapphire Black Metallic.
