Yes Howie, it's a wonderful program. You save money through it and have fun in the same time. I will honestly buy all my cars through the program only.

Now, on the M3, there is no Euro discount, so that's a bit different. But, it is still worth it, just because you get to drive your M3 on Autobahn, meaning NO SPEED LIMIT

Wait, you get a new bimmer and go through the European delivery every 2-3 years?

I plan on doing this for my first and only M3, hopefully powered by an inline-4 that doesn't suck down gas like the current V8.

Heesh,

your only concern would be Austria, so if you really wanna feel better and not to stress out, you can always get tires from John at www.edwintertires.com

But like I said, probably the chances to get fined are relatively small.

That's a nice itinerary btw.

Horatiu,

The plan is to go from Munich to Innsbruck Austria, Nice France, Barcelona Spain, then Madrid Spain. Spend a night in each location. Temps are supposed to be in the 40's when we are there as well, and as we go south it only gets better. Just worried about being fined for not having winter tires.

Regards,
Heesh

Heesh,

I was going to but the weather was absolutely beautiful so there was no need. The temperatures were above 40F. I did drive to Garmish one day, in the Alps near Austria, and it started snowing a little bit, but I didn't stick around much so I was fine.

So, are you going straight from Munich to Madrid?

Horatiu,

Did you end up getting winter tires? How was the weather when you went. I am going later this week, but we are driving through to Madrid, Spain. Hope I can catch a patch of good weather while heading south to Italy!.

Mircea, multumesc. :)
This time, I have only been to Germany and close to the Austrian border. In Munich, I chose to stay at my friend's house, which was right across from Marriott Munich where I was actually going to stay. Through priceline, the Marriott could have been had for $75/night and Renaissance for $80, not bad in my opinion.
Three years ago, when I did my previous ED, I was in Zurich for a few days. You can find the photos in the gallery or you can contact me through the blog and I will give you more details.
I dropped of the in Munich this time and in Frankurt the previous.

Mark,

I'm not sure if Ms. Lange would have been offended, but I didn't wanna interrupt here, it's part of her job and I don't wanna sound like the guy that "knows it all". So, just let her do the presentation while you take photos and videos.

GREAT report from the Welt!!!!

I was wondering...do you think that Ms Lange would have been offended if you had skipped a good deal of her presentation?? I would hate to be rude, but I do not need to be shown the gas tank, the trim, the interior etc...nor do I really need anything once we walk down the stairs and get to the car.

What scares me is that I could wind up being rude (certainly unintentional!!!) as I would be so very excited about the whole thing.

Cheers,

Horatiu,

I enjoyed your presentation of the European Delivery of your brand new car and I'd like to ask you if you could tell us what else you did and what places you visited on this European Vacation and possibly tell us where you stayed and what places you enjoyed the most. If you do go to Switzerland, please gives us lots of details since I plan on doing this also and it would really help me in deciding where to go and where to drop off the car.

Keep up the good work, Horatiu!
