AC Schnitzer has been tuning BMWs for decades. All that experience means the German tuner is one of the best to go to in case you want some more performance for your Bimmer. It’s hard to imagine anyone looking for more power when the car in question is the BMW M5, but then again, to each his own. In the video below, we actually get to see just how fast one of AC Schnitzer BMW M5 models can be and things look seriously impressive.

The M5 Competition in standard guise is an impressive machine. With 600 HP on tap and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque, now combined with all-wheel drive, there are few cars in the world that can keep up with it. Take it to AC Schnitzer and those figures go up to 720 HP and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. On paper then, the AC Schnitzer M5 is a proper land rocket. But is it so in real life as well? This video should prove it.

In the footage below, we get to see the BMW M5 Competition model go from 0 to 300 km/h (0-186 mph) during the High Performance event held in Papenburg earlier this year in collaboration with Continental and Auto Bild Sportscars. As you’re about to witness, the sprint takes under 30 seconds, 28.85 to be more precise. Is that fast enough for you? I guess it will be for most people. What’s even more impressive is that none of the comfort or space in this sedan has been lost on the way.

That’s what makes the M5 such a good car: the balance between performance and comfort. It’s incredible that this beast can keep up with supercars that have only 2 seats in a straight line and yet, get your groceries at home intact. AC Schnitzer also claims that their upgraded model is now the fastest sedan on the Sachsenring (1:31.71) and the Nurburgring (7:29.50).
