When the new BMW G30 5 Series was unveiled, a lot of people compared its design to the 7 Series, but as time went by, many were mesmerized by the unique design cues of the 5 Series with many journalists claiming it is the best one yet, probably only rivaled by the E39 generation.

Another confirmation of the good job the people in Munich did came this week, as the BMW G30 5 Series was one of the winners that went home with a Red Dot award in the Cars and Motorcycles category. The car managed to be included in the list of winners this year alongside names like Ferrari 458 MM Speciale, GTC4 Lusso, and LaFerrari Aperta as well as Genesis G80 Sport, Mazda MX-5 RF and Ferrari J50.

According to the jury: “The interior of the BMW 5 Series Sedan impresses with technical equipment which is designed for an intensive driver experience, while the overall impression is that of a sporty and elegant business sedan. Dynamic proportions, precise contours and taut surfaces characterize the purist, athletic appearance of the BMW 5 Series Sedan. The crease line surrounds the rear window graphic in an energetic motion and thus emphasizes the powerful look. The interior is equipped with modern technology and combines a driver-friendly design with high-quality ambiance.”

This is not the first time a BMW automobile goes home with a Red Dot award. As a matter of fact, BMW seems to be one of the competition’s favorite, taking home prizes time after time, in 2011 winning three of them at the same time with its BMW 5 Series Touring, BMW 6 Series Convertible and BMW X3.
