What is most likely the popular BMW at the moment, the BMW M2 made its appearance at the 2016 LA Auto Show. Even though it isn’t exactly new anymore and isn’t a surprise any longer, it’s still the car everyone wants to see. It isn’t hard to see why.

It’s bulldog stance, flared arches and menacing look give the BMW M2 the sort of appeal that BMW M cars of the past used to have. It looks angry and like it wants to do nothing more than drive hard. And drive hard it can.

Powered by a 365 hp 3.0 liter turbocharged I6 engine, the BMW M2 can get from 0-60 mph in just about 4 seconds with the DCT (dual-clutch transmission). It takes slightly longer to hit 60 mph with a manual transmission, about 4.2 seconds. But that shouldn’t persuade anyone away from the manual, as it’s the way the M2 is supposed to be driven. The example on the auto show floor is equipped with the DCT, which is fine, but it really needs a manual.

The BMW M2 is one of our favorite cars and probably our favorite BMW in the current lineup. Not only is it fast and good looking but it’s incredibly fun to drive. It brings back the sort of fun fans remember from BMWs of years past.
