Over the years, the BMW i8 has been at the center of many automotive tuning projects, but none of them truly created an exciting build. Most of them focused on visual upgrades, rather than performance, and it’s easy to see why it hasn’t gotten us excited.

Gabura Racing Technologies, a German tuner specialized in race transmissions and custom builds, has created the most powerful BMW i8 to date by adding 4.4 liter V8 engine from the BMW M6. The tuning shop removed all vestiges of futuristic hybrid technology from the i8 and mounted in the front the S63 twin-turbo V8.

The engine was further tuned to boost an additional 200 horsepower. Power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission added in front of the rear axle.

The stock BMW i8 needs just 4.4 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62mph) from a standstill with its 360 horsepower, so we expect the tuned up i8 to be a bit faster.
