BMW Motorsport will send a fast and extremely experienced squad of drivers into action in the 2014 endurance season at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife (DE), with the annual highlight coming in the form of the 24-hour race on 21st/22nd June.

BMW works driver Dirk Werner (DE) is joined in the squad by numerous drivers who have taken on the legendary “Green Hell” and emerged victorious on more than one occasion in the past. They include Claudia Hürtgen (DE), Jörg Müller (DE), Dirk Müller (DE), Uwe Alzen (DE) and Dirk Adorf (DE), who are among the most experienced drivers around when it comes to the Nordschleife. Jörg Müller, Dirk Müller and Alzen alone have five victories to their names at the Eifel classic, and will compete there for BMW Motorsport again this year.

In Lucas Luhr (DE), the squad is joined by another driver who knows what it takes to win the Nordschleife marathon: the 34-year-old was victorious in 2006 and 2011, and will be in action behind the wheel of the BMW Z4 GT3 in 2014. As well as the Nordschleife specialists, the BMW Motorsport squad for this year’s 24-hour race also includes talented young drivers like Jens Klingmann (DE), Alexander Sims (GB) and Dominik Baumann (AT). The line-up will be completed by BMW DTM drivers, to be announced at a later date.

“We are already looking forward to the Nürburgring 24 Hours,” said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. “This classic race plays an important role in the history of BMW Motorsport, which is why it is always a very special event for us. After finishing runners-up in 2013, we have our sights set on a return to the podium and are determined to show how competitive the BMW Z4 GT3 is on the endurance circuit. The 24-hour race at the Nürburgring is a law unto itself, pushing both man and machine to the very limit. However, our drivers know exactly what to expect. With them, we are well positioned to successfully overcome the challenge of the ‘Green Hell’.”

As in 2013, BMW Team Schubert and BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS will both line up with two works-assisted BMW Z4 GT3s. The drivers will be allocated to particular cars at a later date.
