The BMW 1 Series M Coupe offers from factory already a convincing performance, but for relatively little money, the owner can improve the performance considerably.
TVW Car Design, Crailsheim-based German tuner, is now offering a complete tuning package for new “baby-M”. According to the company, the tuning package provides tangible improvements in the longitudinal and lateral dynamics.
With the use of several BMW Performance Parts, TVW Car Design enhances the visual aspect of the 1M, starting with a new BMW Performance carbon-fiber rear spoiler, black painted roof made out of carbon-fiber and blacked out 20 inch wheels.
The standard exhaust system has also been replaced with another solution that produces higher acoustics, as well as more power, around 11 hp.
TVW promises an engine output of 420 hp at 5,900 revolutions per minute with the peak torque climbing from 500 to a maximum of 620 Nm, between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm. The 1M was also baptized with a new, cool-sounding name, TVW Competition C01, which stands behind its name with a top speed of 187 mph (306 km/h).
The increase in performance was made possible through a collaboration with Evotech, the company that provided a new intercooler with significantly greater air flow.
A customization of the software ensures that customers realize the full potential of the changed hardware as well. To enhance performance, including hardware changes, TVW charges 5,000 euros.
In order to improve the longitudinal dynamics, TVW includes an adjustable KW coilover suspension that was specially adapted for TVW and developed on a test rig. TVW promises in addition to a neutral handling at the limit, also an increase in ride comfort when driving slowly. The necessary traction to the driven rear axle is achieved through 295-millimeter-wide Continental Sport Contact 5P at the rear, and 245 at front.
Inside, the “default sporty seats” go out and leather-covered bucket seats will provide better support for the super sporty drivers. A steering wheel with LED indicators provided by BMW Performance, increases the overall look and feel of the 1M. A nice touch comes from the orange contrast stitching included in the steering wheel.
