The new BMW M4 will go head-to-head with the Audi RS5. Here is a photo comparison of the two super sporty cars.

Both cars promise great performance on the race track while both “behave” on the regular roads as well. At a first glance, there are a number of commonalities and similarities, such as the dimensions: just over two centimeters separate the two also a small difference in engine performance – only 19 hp between the counterparties.

But there are a series of major differences, starting with the all-wheel drive on the Audi RS5 while the M4 stays true to BMW’s rear-wheel drive architecture. The Audi RS5 also comes with a 4.2 liter V8 engine. The RS5’s engine makes 450 horsepower and 317 lb-ft.

Manual transmission or 7-speed DCT for the M4, no choice for the RS5 – 7-speed S tronic DCT.

In the weight department, the M4 is a clear winner. It has a DIN-balanced weight of 1497 kg (without driver and luggage), while the RS5 has a whopping 1715 kg weight.

The total of 218 kg higher weight also makes the RS5 slower than the M4. The Audi sprints to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds while the M4 with DCT runs the same distance in 4.1 seconds.

In Germany, the BMW M4 will sell for 72,200 euros while the Audi RS5 has a base price of 78,750 euros.

  1. BMW BEST says:

RS5 don’t stands a chance! See ya Audi

  2. Roland Renno says:

Audi RS5 is already out-dated and lacks BMW in all figures. So in my opinion, no comparison.

  3. Giom says:

I’ve always enjoyed the look of the A5, but boy, does the M4 make it look backwards. Can’t wait to see the M4 in battle against its DTM rivals next year!

  4. viper says:

in all aspects I see BMW wins this battle
    except one thing.
I like the audi interior design and details more on this one.

  5. zumit says:

M4 all the way….just that the interior of that Audi is more inclined (in comparison) towards sporty side than the M4 which is awesome by all means…. but could be that there a li’l more M treatment in the options list.

  6. jason bourne says:

All Audis have been hideous since they went to those ginormous front grilles.

  7. FRED says:

more points in favor for BMW (like always)……M POWER!

  8. auaq says:

Thought for a change I’m going to give a little thumbs up for the Audi ……… but 7 thumbs up for the BMvee. >;)

  9. Ayo DocMkize says:

Lets wait for Lexus RCF then we can talk.

  10. fazz27 says:

The Audi looks chubby in comparison.

  11. AM says:

    Audi awd > BMW 2wd.

  12. DJ ILLusive says:

Not sure why we are comparing a 5 year old design to a 2015 model? Of course the newer generation BMW will trump the RS5 in every way. Even the outgoing E92 was a better overall car than the RS5.
We know Audi will have an answer in the coming years, so will Merc with the C coupe AMG. Its just a beautiful thing seeing this ongoing rivalry take place as they all try to 1-up each other. The new M4 is one serious roadcar! I may sell my E46 M3 one day for one of these.
