It was a twenty year old car that was hit by a semi truck, not a new BMW 7 series and not a security model on top of that... enough said, but I shall elaborate a little bit... most twenty year old executive class sedans are going to have electrical gremlins of sorts. Take what were very advanced electronics and give them twenty years to decay and yes, they may fail despite the initial build quality of the locks, power windows, radio, etc. Wait until 2030 and take any 2010 executive class sedan you want... 7 series, S600, Lexus LS... it doesn't matter. It WILL have electrical problems. And it's likely that the severity of these problems will be much worse than cars of the 90s simply because these electronics are becoming more advanced and put into more widespread use. At any rate, your comment has no relevance to this article... people die because they're taking the slightly greater risk of driving older cars on a daily basis. It's a fact of life.
