I drive a 535d and the first time I drove the X5 with the same engine, I was thoroughly disappointed.
Even with the 'sports' mode enabled, the suspension became al wobbly at 150 km/h (about 100 mph) and you had to hit the brakes well in time if you wanted to avoid hitting the car in front of you.

For some reason, the X6 behaves a lot better.

All I have learned (also from owing the previous model X5 3.0d for a while) that I'm never getting an SUV again.

I own the same car in Italy (sport diesel - 290 hp) and I believe is really better than 3.0 gasoline, especially for its torque.

Yes, the sound is really different from gasoline, but when you start driving you forget about it and start enjoying your self thinking on how agile is this car with this engine...

Diesel engines in Europe had a big success because of their inexpensiveness, but were also really slower than gasoline: with this one, after first 5K miles, I easily reach 145/150 mph!!!
