Early in the morning, many automotive blogs have posted the news on BMW considering a 5 Series Hatchback version. The rumor came from AutoExpress and it was published on Autoblog, Autospies and on several BMW forums.
We sat on it for a while since we wanted to get in touch with our inside sources and confirm the "the breaking news". A few hours later, we received the confirmation that indeed BMW is going to launch a Hatchback version, BUT..it might not actually be a 5 Series and rather the "top secret" BMW PAS(codenamed F5). Spy photos of the PAS could be seen here.
We learned a while ago that the BMW PAS will be built based on the 5 Series sedan and it might launch in late 2009 or early 2010.
The new hatch design will be similar to the "TwinDoor" feature offered on the Skoda Superb, which allows the driver to raise either the trunk alone or the rear window and trunk simultaneously.
Despite the negative feedback that this new design might give, BMW may actually pull this PAS/5-Series hatchback off.

Is that a photoshop or the actual photo? I’m assuming just a ’shop since it’s on the current 5 series
