One of our longtime contributors, Chuck Vossler, recently had the chance to join BMW in Daytona, for the iconic Daytona 24 Hours. During his time there, several different events were held for attendees and one of which allowed them to catch a ride with different cars on the legendary race track. Chuck was able to ride shotgun in the new BMW M5 CS on a track designed for top speed and brings you along with him in this new video.

Behind the wheel was a BMW factory driver and the M5 CS was loaded with passengers. Four adults are a lot of added weight but that’s no matter for a car with 627 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. The BMW M5 CS is an absolute missile of a sedan and had no trouble reaching 120 mph during banking at Daytona International Speedway. After the banking, onto the straightaway, you can see the speedometer click into the 150 mph-range, before the cars in front needed to brake.

Due to its added power and lower curb weight, the BMW M5 CS is significantly faster than the standard M5. It’s capable of 0-60 mph in under three seconds and a quarter-mile in the tens. But that’s not what makes the M5 CS so special. Its performance is great but it’s how the M5 CS drives and makes you feel as a driver that makes it one of BMW’s all-time greats. Unfortunately, you can’t feel that through the video, especially from the passenger seat, but it’s still great to see what it can do on such a high-speed track.

There are a few small corners it handles in this video but nothing that would possible stress the BMW M5 CS. Still, it’s awesome to see it blast down the track, and through the banking, at the iconic Daytona International Speedway.
