BMW has launched the online configurator for its new X5 M and X6 M models on several websites. However, the German one is still lacking the configurator, while on others (such as Belgium, Luxembourg or UK websites) some options are not yet possible to add to your desired model.

Nonetheless, it is always interesting to play a bit with a car configurator. I built my dream BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition and this are my top picks.

First of all, the BMW X5 M Competition was configured in BMW Individual Ametrin metallic exterior paint finish. For the cabin, I chose a deep and powerful Merino Adelaide Gray full leather upholstery, while the chosen trim was the BMW Individual fine-wood Ash Grain Silver Grey high-gloss.

I also picked the 21″/22″ Star spoke 809 M bicolour alloy wheels. As well, for ensuring a feel good atmosphere, I have also specified some high-end options for my dream F95: the Rear-Seat Entertainment Professional Package for roughly $3,000 and the Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system for over $5,000.

Secondly, I featured my favorite BMW X6 M Competition in a sparkling Donington Gray metallic exterior color. I specced the interior in the full leather BMW Individual Merino Ivory White/Night Blue upholstery, with the BMW Individual fine-wood Ash Grain Silver Grey high-gloss trim for the dashboard and door covers.

As in the case of the X5 M Competition, the 21″/22″ Star spoke 809 M bicolour alloy wheels are the ones that make the car look better and more upscale. For an extra dose of sportiness, I have also chosen to remove the standard speed limit with the help of the M Driver’s Package (for around $2,800) which increases the top of the F96 up to 180 mph (or 290 km/h if you are from Europe).

For increased safety, I also ticked the Visibility Package featuring BMW Laser Headlight technology which adds around $2020 to the final price of both X5 M and X6 M Competition models I have configured.

In the end, I would have paid around $143,000 for the F95 and $146,000 for the X6 M. Wow, those are whooping price tags, but knowing we are dealing with full-blood M models with a very impressive equipment package, then these values might sound fairly reasonable.
