If you’re a BMW fan but also a fan of cool, sporty wagons, this might be a trying time for you. While BMW offers fewer and fewer fun wagons, its competitors seem to be offering more and more. The latest interesting wagon just made its debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and it looks quite good — the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake.

In America, the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is a very popular car. With a low starting price and cheap lease deals, the CLA is a big seller here in the ‘States. Too bad it’s not a great car. This new one, based off of the new A-Class, seems to be much better and the Shooting Brake version only makes it better.

There’s not much to learn about the CLA Shooting Brake aside from its looks. Under the skin, it’s essentially the same as the CLA-Class sedan, which is essentially the same as the A-Class hatchback. Only the Shooting Brake, with its wagon body style, is more practical and better looking. In fact, this could be the best looking small wagon on the market.

As far as model variants go, there will be some of the typical CLA-Class models available. The CLA250 will come with a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which will likely be the volume seller. There will also be two hot versions, well one warm version and one hot one. The Mercedes-AMG CLA35 Shooting Brake will get a 2.0 liter turbo-four with 302 hp and the AMG CLA45 will also use a turbo-four with 383 hp.

Personally, I’d love a Mercedes-AMG CLA35 Shooting Brake, as it would fit my lifestyle very well. I think the car looks great and boasts the best interior you can get at its price point, along with some pretty nifty tech. Sadly, the CLA Shooting Brake likely won’t make it to the US market.
