Shortly after the launch of the new 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible, BMW has released a series of videos highlighting the design and the best features of their first 8er cabriolet. Just like the new 8 Series Coupe, the 2019 BMW 8 Series convertible will launch in M850i xDrive variant.

That means it gets a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The V8 produces 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque — the same as the M850i xDrive coupe. BMW said the convertible will do 0 t0 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe. Both models have a top speed of 155 mph.

Every BMW M850i Convertible rides on 20-inch wheels, and it’s fitted with the same tech as the coupe model. That means the Adaptive M suspension is standard, as is rear-wheel steering.

Among the standard features are heated seats, LED ambient lighting, premium Hardon Kardon audio system with 12 speakers and a full suite of driver assists. The BMW 8 Series Convertible has collision and pedestrian warning with city braking function, and the optional Driving Assistant Professional includes stop-and-go adaptive cruise, lane departure warning and active blind spot detection.

The 8 Series uses a heavily insulated fabric roof that can be raised or lowered in just 15 seconds, and operated at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour.
