Of everyone I’ve spoken to that’s driven the new BMW M5, I’ve never heard a single soul say “Ya know what, it’s good but it just needs more power”. The new F90 M5 is a flipping rocket, using its 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque to hit 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, with the proper launch control sequence. That’s faster than some Nissan GT-Rs, the Audi R8 V10 and a Ferrari 488 GTB. So it’s seriously quick. But the people at Gorilla Performance decided to up the ante a bit.

In this new video, we take a look at the Gorilla Performance BMW M5 on the drag strip. While we don’t know exactly what has been done to this M5 to make it so powerful but we do know that it makes a whopping 720 hp. To be honest, that’s not that much more than the standard M5. While BMW claims the stock car to make 600 hp, after some independent dyno testing it’s been revealed to make almost 700 hp from the factory. Still, 720 ponies is nothing to sneeze at.

It also gets a new exhaust from GP, one that makes it sound much more burbly and snarly. That might not necessarily sound better than the stock car’s exhaust but it’s certainly more aggressive. So if it’s pure drama and anger that you want from your new M5, whatever exhaust this car has might work for you.

On the drag strip, the BMW M5 takes on a tuned Porsche 911 Turbo that makes 630 hp. While that’s a lot les than the 720 hp of the BMW M5, the stock 911 Turbo is just as fast as the stock M5 with much less power as well. So it’s no surprise that the 911 Turbo still won the race. However, there’s no two ways about it, this tuned M5 is flipping quick. Although, so is that stock car, so you tell us if it’s worth tuning.
