BMWBLOG collaborator Marc Rutten has recently embarked on a test drive from Munich to Monaco, before heading back to Czech Republic to pick up his own Long Beach Blue BMW M2. The new “baby-M” had its market launch last month and it’s slowly starting to make its way around the world. US customers – who paid $51,700 – are also getting their hands on the highly coveted sportscar.

As seen on the photos embedded here, the M2 is arguably the best looking BMW on the market today. It looks positively aggressive and like it can take anything down on the race track. Being based on the 2 Series, the M2 has a beautiful profile an gorgeous lines.

But, being a proper M car, it also has aggressive flared wheel arches and a mean stance. It’s wide, low and angry looking.

The M2’s 370 hp 3.0 liter turbocharged I6 makes it devilishly fast, getting from 0-60 in just over four seconds and its 343 lb-ft of torque (369 lb-ft for temporary overboost) allows it to roast its rear tires on command. We’ve had a chance to track the M2 at Laguna Seca and we were overly impressed.

With more and more units coming off the production line in Leipzig, we’ll likely see new and exciting photoshoots.
