AutoExpress put hi-tech launch control systems to the test in a range of performance cars to see how effective they are in a standing start. The video shows the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS, BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63, but in the interest of fairness, they’ve included a VW Polo BlueMotion, too!
As quick as they are to take the car of the start line, they can be just as slow to activate the launch control. The procedure usually involves several preparatory steps and can be different for each automaker.
Let’s see which one takes the win.
The M4 launch control is terrible, you just spin all over the place. The whole point of launch control is to launch as quickly as possible, and you don’t do that with the one in BMWs.
one day i’d like to see instant torque in the m4. with proper launch control.
