Our own Chuck Vossler takes the BMW i3 BEV for winter test driving. At temperatures of 5F (-15C), the new i3 is being put through the roughest conditions one can imagine, a true test to see how the fully electric car handles not only the cold, but also plenty of snow.

To level the play field, we swapped out the 19″ all-season tires in favor of the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 winter tire and not surprisingly the winter performance on the winter tires is outstanding with the rear wheel drive electric i3; they inspire confidence on the road and they keep you safe on the road.

To make the cold weather testing even more authentic, Chuck decided to leave the winter jacket at home while shooting video footage with a beautiful icy backdrop.
