A photo comparison of the BMW 4 Series Convertible against Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A5 Convertible.

Why the 4 Series cabrio against the E-Class? The E-Class Cabriolet is based on the C-Class sedan so we decided to go with cars that have similar dimensions, even though the price tag is different. The Audi A5 is also based on the A4 sedan.

All three premium convertibles are on par when it comes to dimensions: The Audi A5 Cabriolet measure 4626 mm in length, the shortest representative of the trio. The 4 Series Convertible is slightly longer at just 4.64 meters.

Although the E-Class Cabriolet has five inches less wheelbase than the 4 Series and almost six inches less than the A5, it towers over the Bavarians in the outer length and comes to just over 4.70 meters. Larger overhangs front and rear are the logical consequence.

While the 4 Series Convertible, just like its predecessor, comes with a three-piece folding metal roof, the Mercedes E-Class and Audi A5 Cabriolet feature the lighter fabric-made roof. BMW promises further reduction of noise and wants to decrease the noise by two decibels.
