Just recently we have spent some time behind the wheel of the BMW X6 M50d and reported that the car exceeded our expectations. While in Paris, we had a chance to reconnect with the extremely fast Sports Activity Coupe.

Powered by BMW’s first tri-turbo diesel, the X6 M50d produces 280 kW/381 hp and peak torque of 740 Newton meters (546 lb-ft). The engine itself is a state of art with a third electric turbocharger that not only reduces lag, but also provides greater fuel efficiency.

At 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers (37.7 mpg imp) and 7.7 l/100 km (36.7 mpg imp) respectively in the EU test cycle, the average fuel consumption figures of the BMW X5 M50d and BMW X6 M50d are only slightly above those for the existing diesel variants of the two models.

BMW X6 M50d races to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h (155mph).

Exclusive exterior and interior design features are also specific to the BMW X6 M50d. To optimize the supply of cooling air to the power unit, the spaces normally reserved for foglamps on regular BMW X models take on a new role as air intakes, and these large surfaces offer a tantalizing hint of the engine power lurking behind the scenes.

The race-inspired air-channeling flaps sited below the side air intakes optimize the cars’ aerodynamic balance at high speeds. The athletic stance of the BMW X6 M50d is underlined by a bonnet sporting a striking powerdome as standard.

The front grille is also painted in titanium color and the exterior mirror caps in Ferric Grey metallic. A BMW High-gloss Shadow Line trim for the side window differentiates the M diesel from the other models. The X6 M50d is also available with optional 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in Ferric Grey metallic developed exclusively for the BMW M Performance Automobiles.
