Day one is over at the Frankfurt Auto Show and BMW’s Hall 11 has been busier than ever. With many world premieres and the launch of a few concept vehicles, including MINI, BMW Group has to be pleased with the results.

Beside the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept, two new production models were the main attraction on the floor: BMW X1 and 5 Series GT.

Initially launched as an European only model, the BMW X1 is starting to look like a winner for BMW. With a new and fresh design that follows the design language seen on the new 7 Series and 5 GT, the X1 is aiming for a more dynamic customer base, a younger crowd that enjoys outdoor activities, but still would like the thrill of a BMW model.

The entry level SAV revolves around the “Joy” campaign and the emotions created by this new vehicle, seem to be one of the selling points as well.

In the US, the X1 SAV will make its debut in 2011, but no information on the models being offered here.

An interview with the Project Leader for the X1 will follow these upcoming days, so stay tuned for more interesting information.
