Yet another review of the new 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe. This time, the latest video review comes from the UK where Auto Express folks took the 1M for an extensive ride. Before jumping into the video, here are some of their findings:

“Could this be the best M car since the original E30 M3? The new 1-Series M Coupé is about as back-to-basics as BMW’s performance models get these days – it’s a simple formula of a powerful engine, a manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.

Turn off the ESP and you can indulge in tail slides, although firm but compliant damping means it’s easy to cover ground at pace, revelling in the meaty steering and limited body roll. With its compact dimensions, this is a sports car that’s nimble and quick to respond to steering, brake or throttle inputs – and as a result, it’s a real pleasure to drive at any speed.

It should also be comfortable and easy to live with. The best M car for a long time? Undoubtedly.”

Kind of hard to take this car seriously when it looks like a riced Civic.

You want to know how to properly design a car for this class look no further than the Lexus CT200h which sets new benchmarks and standards here. Despite being FWD it will easily outhandle the RWD BMW 1 series any day and on any track. Bring it on.

    Toyota/Lexus for life.

You Obviously have no appreciation for pure sports cars. lexus is just a redbadged overpriced Toyota FYI. And you will never get the same driving pleasure from any JDM car as you would from a BMW.

Unlike your BMW, a Lexus will never have any problems. I don’t get why people buy BMWs when they’re always in the shop. It’s a fact.

well your so called ct200h is a rebadged Auris as my sister drives one and will never be in the same class as a bmw gs series maybe or the ls but never is or ct

Lexus created the CT200h to show BMW how to make a proper small car. That means the car has an interior that rivals a Bentley (unlike the cheap shoe interior of the 1 series…a 1980s Kia has a better interior), is very fuel efficient (CT200h puts to shame the unrefined 116d in gas mileage and is faster and more refined) and of course fun to drive. Jeremy Clarkson even said that the CT200h is a very fun car. He never said that about any BMW 1 series. The BMW 1 series has class? What are you smoking? None of the German small wannabe premium cars have class except maybe the Audi A3. The 1 series looks like a fat girl. The CT200h on the other is sleek, stylish, a lifestyle product that will sell well with female celebrities who value safety, performance, reliability, features, value, handling and most of all STYLE. Yes, the CT200h is a stylish lifestyle car just like the MINI or Fiat 500 (except looking so much better and being far more reliable).

            Lexus for life.

autoexpress and evo both gave the car 2 out of 5 stars and the so claimed better milage then a 116d is false. it claims 74 mpg but actualy gives 37. hmmm
