The BMW M Bike

Something fun for a late Sunday night. BMW unveils their latest effort in the….bicycle market.

The BMW M Bike is a spectacular combination of state-of-the-art technology and exclusive design. Disc brakes and an elegant matt anthracite frame with the M logo combine perfectly with the leather saddle, stunning rims and handles, and shiny red seat inlay. Characteristic of the entire M collection, which, like the BMW M model itself, stands for the extraordinary and unique.

The thrill of speed.

Anyone who rides this sporty speed bike through the city or takes a short tour through the countryside will immediately attract a lot of attention − at least for a few seconds. The high total gear ratio transmission delivers astonishing speed.

The best of the best.

The BMW M Bike’s fi’zi:k saddle is made from the highest quality leather with a red inlay. This ensures extra riding comfort and superior grip. The built-in Shimano SLX gear system is light and sturdy. The Manitou Match suspension fork on the front wheel is incredibly durable and the disc brakes make for a clean stop.

Starting in June 2010 BMW M Bikes will be available in a special limited edition at select BMW dealers and online at www.bmw-shop.com.

Here you’ll also find choice textiles and other accessories from the M Collection, including the M Cabin Bag, a travel bag made from the finest leather, or the M Shoes − black sneakers made from a leather-nylon mix, designed in cooperation with Puma.

Ill consider it when my bike is old.

    how much

    • Jordan

Looks fab!… I’d buy it but just like I do with timepieces, I always buy a watch from a watch maker, not like DKNY or Diesel or w/e. This bike looks pretty high spec but I’m sure you could get a better bike for the same price from Trek, Giant, etc.

    • okeribok

      €1500, I believe.

  • Giom

I’d buy one just for the cool factor. Maybe then I’ll start cycling:)

Last time I looked into ordering there mountain bike they refused to ship to the US. Norway and Spain are also off limits. They sell to most of Europe and that’s it as far as I know. If I am wrong please tell me how you got one!

    • james

      • Lynn A. Doverspike

        My phone # 724-388-4865

  • BMW fan and driver

It looks very simiilar to BMW Cruise Bike. I wonder if they just slap the M badge and maybe it will cost more than CAD$1200 for the BMW Cruise Bike, as seen here:

  • http://na Ed

Yea…that’s all good…but what are all the specs? What’s the HP? 0-60 times? What about torque? Gosh…why would they leave all that critical info out? I wonder how it stacks up to the 335is? OH…no, wait, the S5 PERHAPS?

  • Doug

    Ok…. that’s enough with ///M dilution, BMW.

This isn’t even a serious bike, just a somewhat expensive hybrid. The lack of rear suspension is unacceptable without extremely lightweight frame and components — not alum. High gear ratios mean nothing for speed. Leather seats mean nothing for bike control.

    I don’t understand how this is ///M-anything.

    • BMWM6

depending on how your going to use it sometimes a rear suspenison is worse.

My bicycle has a rear suspension but its a mountain bike so its needed.

For cruising my rear suspension can be stiffened

BMW had a really nice mountain bike
      http://www.bike-trend.com/bike-design-bicycle-autos-brand-models-bicycle/

its the first pivture in the link

I would buy that it looks really nice

      • Doug

Hmmm… some interesting bikes on that page. BMW’s actual mountain bike is a lot more sensible for that purpose, with good clearance and double-pivot rear susp. So… what’s this bike for? It doesn’t look like a hybrid… is it a sort of urban commuter bike? Is it their Progressive Activity Bike?

  • alex

shimano slx – seriously?! where exactly is this “best of the best”? beemer badge, and 1000 bucks too expensive.. bad one

  • brassneck

Its for taking money from the badge snobs, some people will but anything with a BMW badge on it.

    • Giom

BMW would argue with you, saying, they had wished there were more ppl like that in this world, then they wouldn’t have to build the best cars (and bicycle) money can buy.

C’mon, broaden your mind a little. Everybody that I know that drives BMW products, do so ’cause they expect the best in that product. Thats a very narrow minded view you got there!

      • brassneck

If you think its the best bicycle money can buy then its you with the narrow mind.

Yeah, buy one if you want to be called an idiot for buying crap like that because of a name that has no kudos, skill, or credibility at all in cycling circles. Then again if you drive a Beemer you probably get it already.

I work at a BMW dealership and am an avid cyclist and own several bikes, from Madone to a 3 speed cruiser. I recently rode the Oregon coast, and I ride every week of our cold Canadian winters. I must admit I never considered purchasing a BMW bike until I saw this one. Once I saw it in person, I could see this is a high quality bike. If you love BMWs, and you love to ride this bike makes an excellent addition to any stable. The only problem is that they seem to be hard to get a hold of, so call your local dealer to check availability.

We currently have four of these bikes in stock at our BMW store in Illinois. Please contact me for information. 8153176464

    what awesome looking bike!!!

  • theandyman

You cannot be serious? The frame is mediocre and the groupset is junk! For this money you could be riding a great bike and not a mere badge…

  • theandyman

Forgot to mention that this is just a copy of a mediocre Orbea bike that costs less than HALF the price. (I can get you the decals for £2…)

  • theandyman
  • Willyb

read between the lines…. all the negative reply always seems to come from people who knock anything they can’t afford… is there anything outhere that has the best of everything and that you assholes can actually afford?????? catch you at the 2011Cape Argus “ON MY M-BIKE IT”S BLOODY AWESOME” !!!!!!!!!!

  • Bill B

I wonder where you take the bike for service and parts? ANyone know?

  • http://Motoreflex.blogspot.com Dave85

I have a 1994 Trek 5200 OCLV, carbon frame road bike that I picked up a few months ago for $500. Ultegra components, it’ll dust that M. And yes, even a
brand new bike can be had with better groupset for MUCH less than the cost of the M bike. After all, if it’s not a car or motorcycle, you would only be buying an “M” badge with all that extra loot, and none of the performance advantages…but I’m sure there’s a whole bunch of bimmer fans who would never research such things, and probably haven’t ridden a bicycle since they were 8 years old.

  • Nikos

i’m really interested to buy this bicycle.. !!!

this bike is a joke for the price, the frame just looks like a tweeked GT frame from the old triple triangle design. Shimano SLX, really for the price you better be using XTR, and the disc brakes on a rigid rear, you must be joking, and not to mention the position on the fork does not make any sense with the fork…if disc brakes, the why even have a cable hanger, let alone turning it backwards at a vain attempt to make it look cool! This is obviously a designers bike that does not actually ride, and one last thing, what are they going to do when the fork bottoms out and punches a hole in the bottom of the triangle therefor crippling you $1300.00 piece of urban art? Then again thats just an opinion!

nice looks good I know Porsche do some nice bikes too but they’re pretty expensive. Also ferrari do a few as well. There’s one on their site that’s $13,000 you could by a decent small car for that kind of money.
