The rumored BMW X5 M has been spotted at Nurburgring these past few days. Even though we have covered this subject many times before, like for example, here and here , we have some interesting new photos.
Comparing to the previous spy shots, we noticed a few changes that BMW has implemented, in the front, the headlights appear to have been switched out with X6 headlights. The rear has suffered some modifications as well by getting larger rear bumper. There are still no news on which engine will power this new model, but our guess is that it will be the twin-turbo V8.
Also, many people label this X5 as an M version, but in a discussion that we had recently with a BMW Executive, we have learned that the possibility of BMW associated the M brand with an X Series, is very slim. They are looking to differentiate from Mercedes-Benz who has placed their AMG stamp on most of the models.
What could this X5 be named? Your guess is as good as ours, but..give it a try, share it with us.

Your source and a post on Xbimmers sound very similar. You must have the same contact at BMWAG/M as that poster. I hope they do not make an M X
Mike, I actually heard that sometimes last year and this year as well. It came from a couple of different people. Remember, it wasn’t set in stone, but that was the general consensus. Things might change, we all know that BMW does change things.
I just went and read the topic on Xbimmers, and he seems to be on the right track as well. Bu we’ll see.
