According to Automotive News, BMW confirmed they are in talks with GM, Daimler and Fiat, to sell engines. According to Friedrich Eichiner, a BMW’s board member, BMW will make a decision by the end of the year. Even though Mr. Eichiner has not confirmed the exact buyers, he did acknowledge that Daimer, GM and Fiat are among the companies that might get the bimmer engines.
I guess this is an interesting move by BMW who is looking to increase revenue and reduce spending by spreading out the development and production cost over its engine and transmissions. Honestly, I would love to see a Fiat with a BMW engine.
