One of the upcoming BMWs we’re most excited about is the second-gen 4 Series Gran Coupe. During its time, the first-gen 4 Series GC was a surprisingly great car and one that seems a bit underappreciated. Its styling was equal to, or better, than its two-door sibling and it boasted two more doors and far more practicality. So it was a great all-around vehicle. Now, it’s going to be getting a second generation and we’re pretty excited about it.

Some new spy photos have recently been released (which we don’t own but you can see here) and in them we get to see then next-gen 4 Series Gran Coupe up close and personal. Admittedly, it’s fully wrapped in camouflage at this point, so it’s not exactly a smorgasbord of visual information. However, we still get to see its overall shape, headlights, some of its taillights and some other little bits of styling.

For instance, the 4 Series Gran Coupe seems to have a much more traditional Hofmeister Kink than the arrow-like one found on the new G20 3 Series. Although, it seems as if there’s a bit of fake body paneling covering where the Hofmesiter Kink resides, so BMW might be concealing something interesting there. It also seems to be getting taillights more reminiscent of the 8 Series, rather than the 3 Series.

Aside from that, this test mule isn’t really much more revealing than any other we’ve see before. It looks like it’s shaping up to be a handsome car and it should be. The new G20 3 Series is a good looking car and, from what we’ve seen of the 4 Series Coupe, we expect the 4 Series Gran Coupe to be as well.

From what we’ve learned, the next-gen BMW 4 Series Coupe will look a lot like the Concept 4 we just saw in Frankfurt. If that’s the case, expect the 4 Series Gran Coupe to have some similar styling elements, such as the positively enormous grilles. For better or worse.
