BMW of North America is recalling one model year 2020 M340i and one M340i xDrive vehicle. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue relates to improper welding, therefore, the rear center headrest may fold in the event of a rear impact crash.
If the headrest folds down in a crash, there could be an increased risk of injury.
So far, the recall only affects two vehicles, as outlined above.
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear center headrest free of charge.
The recall is expected to begin October 7, 2019.
Owners may contact BMW customer service at (800) 525-7417.
