A few weeks ago, I had a BMW X7 xDrive50i test loaner from BMW USA for a week. During that time, I had asked you fine readers to leave some questions in the comments section below. Questions for me to answer in a short video. I apologize for the late video but it’s finally here.
The BMW X7 xDrive50i is an interesting car because it’s the brand’s most luxurious SUV in history, yet it’s still not technically as luxurious as the 7 Series. Despite BMW keeping it just a half-rung lower on the Bavarian ladder, the X7 has more interior space, more capability and more seating. So by the very fact that it makes everyday life easier, I actually find that it’s a better luxury car than the 7 Series. It has 9/10ths the luxury of its numerically-similar sedan sibling but with far more capability and practicality. For me, that’s a no-brainer.
All of this I covered in both of my reviews, though; written and video. However, there were a couple of questions that were asked which were quite specific and weren’t answered in either review. So this video helps to answer some of those more specific questions that fans or customers might have. There were only a handful of questions but a few decent ones sprinkled in. So I answered the ones I felt were most interesting.
Questions like when BMW will change its grille design were funny. Some were genuinely thoughtful, such as how the X7 will compete once some of its new BMW siblings debut. Some, However, were just silly.
Hopefully, with each coming car we test, you’ll ask some more questions so we can get some more answers. This way, we can better communicate with, and entertain, you fine readers and help to answer your unique burning questions.
To compare the size of the interior with number of dead bodies it can carry is poor taste!
I am sure the reviewer is trying to be funny but to sink low with such comments diminishes the credibility of whatever value there may be in his other comments about the X7.
The X7 is BMW’s answer to the GLS and a very good answer at that as well. It is also the X5’s big brother and not the 7 series’s big cousin so to keep trying to compare it with the 7 is drowned in inaccuracy. We were all taught at school not to compare apples with pears.
Well, no matter what you say, X7 on the pic looks very much like a coffin carrier car…..
I agree that these cars look too big and ugly. So does the GLS and Range Rover Vogue- This is a matter of taste and thus subjective.
However, this reviewer is trying to be funny by explaining the size of the interior of the X7 by making his suggestion about carrying dead bodies.
7 live ones. Passed today by white X7, didn’t look oversized @ all in light monochrome, even the grille looked in proportion. Don’t tell anyone, they’ll be so disappointed.
Of course it was a joke.
Also, we haven’t driven the GLS-Class yet. Which means we can’t compare it to the GLS objectively so we’re not going to. Period.
The X7 is also withing a few USD of the 7 Series, so there’s absolutely reason to point out that the X7 is better value.
Political correctness just ruins everything. Get a life mister.
So, is the M Sport option really nothing more than appearance or is there some perceivable performance enhancement from it? And what does the dynamic handling package really deliver?
