Due to a couple of interesting E30 models coming up for sale in various parts of the world recently, we started looking more into these magnificent cars and what they are capable of. Therefore, we stumbled upon this video where a BMW E30 325i takes on a much younger opponent in the guise of an Audi S8 Plus. And while at first sight this fight might seem unbalanced, just you wait until you see the end result.

Admittedly, we also should point out that the BMW is … well, let’s just say, tuned. The stock engine under the hood was taken out and replaced with one that still makes fans sigh today. I’m talking about an M60 4-liter V8, one of the few V8 engines BMW ever made. This one was taken up to an unbelievable 700 HP by its owner and it therefore turned this lightweight Bimmer into a proper land rocket.

On the other side of the strip we have an Audi S8 Plus, a limousine that’s brimming with technology and comfy dampers as well as a powerful engine under the hood. The S8 plus comes with a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 as well which makes 605 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque and is hooked up to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with quattro. From a standing start, the Audi would probably win the race, without breaking a sweat.

However, the manual E30, with its ludicrous amounts of power and screaming V8 does stand a chance when the race is done from a rolling start. And since this video was filmed in Sweden on the playing ground of the people over at GTBoard, you can probably imagine the outcome of the race.
