Earlier this week, BMW unveiled their life cycle impulse – fancy word for facelift – for the 2 Series family. The 2017 BMW 2 Series Facelift not only provides the latest state-of-the-art coupe and convertible, but also the interior features new technology and a major update for the iDrive infotainment system. The changes perceptible at first sight, however, concern the exterior, as usual, with light technology in particular being the focus.

Starting with the facelifted models, the BMW 2 Series Coupe and Convertible will be equipped with LED headlights as standard and will receive a completely new lighting design as part of this changeover. A broader framing of the kidneys, slightly modified aprons as well as taillights with LED interior design round up the model update.

If you want even more optical differentiation to the pre-facelift models, this can be achieved through a choice of colors and wheels. The Mediterranean Blue, which is well-known from other series, is now also available for the BMW 2 Series Convertible and Coupe, the Sunset Orange paint, introduced with the 4 Series facelift, also complements the color palette. Completely new in the program of BMW colors is the Seaside Blue, which we get to see on the first photos of the 2017 BMW 2 Series Cabriolet.

Four new light-alloy wheels also contribute to the fresh look, like the 18-inch wheels in the style 719 M Jet Black. The same design is also available in a bicolor variant, which is only partially black lacquered. For models with the Sport Line, the 725 style wheel is available in 17 inches. For the Luxury Line, the 17-inch double-spoked wheel style 724 is also available from the facelift.

The changes to the 2017 BMW 2 Series Facelift are clearly visible in the interior, as a new dashboard and a lot of new technology are used here. The revised instrument panel is more driver-oriented than before, consists of new materials and is home to the latest version of the BMW iDrive system. With the professional navigation system, the BMW 2 Series now comes with an 8.8-inch touchscreen, which offers the occupants an additional possibility to operate the numerous functions.

The engine range, which was refreshed only a few months ago, remains practically unchanged. As in the past, the range of the petrol engines from the BMW 218i with a 136 hp three-cylinder engine to the four-cylinder 220i and 230i and to the top model M240i with a straight cylinder and 340 hp. The diesel lineup kicks off with the 218d with 150 hp, 220d with 190 hp and 225d with biturbo charge and 224 HP on tap.

The market launch of the BMW 2 Series Facelift is scheduled for July.
