BMW will be filling out its ever-expanding product line with a new SUV. The X2 Concept is debuting this week at the Paris Auto Show. BMW’s successful SUV lineup already includes an X1, X3, X4, X5, and X6, and will gain a large SUV – the X7 – in 2018. Also in 2018, the X2 production model will arrive on the market, joining the X1 as the only two front-wheel drive trucks. An xDrive will, of course, be offered in certain markets.

The BMW Concept X2 has a familiar design with the front apron dominated by a large center air intake found below the kidney grille. The rounded-off design in the rear also features dark cladding below the rear apron, giving it a slimmer look. The biggest departure from the X1 is the added width up front, which gives the X2 a much more aggressive look.

BMW says this is to set the X2 apart from the rest of the BMW lineup. and will cater to a new demographic. “[The X2 is a] vehicle for active people looking for a combination of enjoyment and practicality,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president for BMW Group Design.

First videos of the X2 released today give us a closer look at the curvy lines and if BMW doesn’t deviate much from the concept form, this will be quite a looker.
