The Audi A3 e-tron is a big deal for Audi, as it’s the very first plug-in hybrid that the four-ringed brand has ever sold. So naturally, Audi is going to be making some big waves with it. We get to take a closer look at it at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show and it looks very good.

Audi’s A3 Sportback body style has always been very good looking, but it’s something that we don’t normally get in North America. It’s a shame because cars like the S3 and RS3 Sportback are so incredibly cool and even just the standard A3 Sportback would be a welcome addition. However, to get the cool hatchback body style in the US, one must opt for the e-tron.

This isn’t such a bad thing, though, as the A3 e-tron is a very interesting car. It’s powered by a 1.4 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which is combined with an electric motor to drive the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This allows it to be quick, fun and also economical. Plus, it’s loaded with fancy tech, has a cool body style and an awesome interior. Check out the pictures of it from Detroit and check out our previous reviews of the A3 e-tron.
