At the media launch of the new BMW X1, the Bavarians decided to showcase the capabilities of the entry-level SUV, and to do so, they attached a boat trailer which can be as heavy as 2,000 kilograms. When combined with the xDrive25i and xDrive25d and their 231 horsepower, the new X1 can turn into a potent tractor to haul around your weekend boat.

The boat trailer is part of the BMW Accessories Program for the X1 which includes among many a roof rack for attaching boxes or sports equipment, a rear bike carrier, a trailer hitch, various child seats, mounts for iPad and other tablets, and a GoPro tow hook.

Furthermore, the X1 in display was fitted with some BMW Performance Parts, like the blacked out kidney grille and sporty lightweight wheels. The icing on the cake is the beautiful and sparkling Sparkling Brown color (pun intended). No fewer than 13 finishes are available for the X1, but most colors are different variants of silver and gray. There are also two white and black tones, along with a cool Chestnut Bronze color. In combination with the M Sport package, the X1 can be ordered in the Estoril Blue.

The BMW X1 xDrive28i will be the exclusive model in the US at launch featuring a 2.0 liter TwinTurbo 4 cylinder engine from BMW’s new family of modular engines with maximum output of 228 horsepower. No diesel X1 is planned for the U.S. market.
