Unfazed by any weather or road conditions, thrillingly dynamic on the race track – the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M are purpose-designed for exceptional driving experiences. Now the latest generation of this brace of high-performance all-wheel-drive vehicles from the BMW M GmbH fold is revving up on the start line – with an even more commanding appearance, boosted output, optimised suspension technology and new heights of luxury and innovation in the equipment range on offer.

Pivotal to the hallmark M high-performance character of the new BMW X5 M and new BMW X6 M is, once again, the perfectly tuned overall package of engine, powertrain and suspension. The further evolved V8 unit with M TwinPower Turbo technology generates output increased by 15 kW/20 hp to 423 kW/575 hp and a maximum torque improved by 70 to 750 Newton metres. Both models are equipped as standard with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which takes them from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds flat. They also raise the bar in terms of lateral dynamics, steering precision and brake performance, while fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are around 20 per cent lower than for the previous models.

The BMW 2 Series Convertible combines superior dynamic handling in the premium compact segment with a particularly intense top-down experience, while its design boasts hallmark BMW proportions with sporty, elegant lines and a flat shoulderline. The electrically operated soft-top ensures optimised acoustic comfort and can be opened or closed in just 20 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h (31 mph). Sporty driving pleasure, meanwhile, is guaranteed by engines with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, rear-wheel drive, a torsionally stiff body, finely balanced weight distribution between the front and rear axles and further honed suspension technology.

The BMW 2 Series Convertible also offers innovative equipment features as well as enhanced space, comfort, functionality and a premium interior character. It is the first model with the option of the latest-generation Navigation system Professional, which enables over-the-air updates via the vehicle’s built-in SIM card.

The Los Angeles Auto Show is one of North America’s most significant and tradition-steeped motor shows. First held in 1907, the trade fair is a platform for carmakers and suppliers from around the world to showcase their latest models, concept studies and technological developments. The automotive industry gathering in the US state of California is the final event in the international motor show calendar and as such offers an intriguing preview of the following season’s trends. The event organisers anticipate around 900,000 visitors over the ten days on which the LA Auto Show 2014 is open to the public.
