The new 2015 BMW X6 goes off road to showcase its athletic abilities. Even though it is not and has never been marketed as a true offroader, the BMW X6 can conquer the difficult terrain and deep swamps.
Journalists from around the world were given the go-ahead to “beat up” the new X6 as they see fit and the BMW offroad course at the Performance Center Driving School in Spartanburg seemed like the right spot.
It is indisputable that the F16 BMW X6 is an evolution of the E71 X6, with a design that doesn’t deviate from the proven formula. The new X6 is more masculine than ever, wider, slightly larger and meaner than ever. The front-end simply dominates the road and if you add the M Sport Package to the deal, you can see what’s in store, and more, for the upcoming BMW X6 M.
BMW has been able to shave 35 to 55 lbs. from the X6’s curb weight, depending on equipment. That helps increase fuel economy to 19/27 city/highway mpg for the X6 sDrive35i, 18/27 mpg for the X6 xDrive35i, and 15/22 mpg for the X6 xDrive50i.
For those seeking more than the base model, BMW will offer uplevel xLine ($2,500) and performance-focused M Sport ($3,500) trim levels. A dynamic damper control/rear air suspension setup ($1,500) and Dynamic Handling Package ($4,500) are the highlights of the extensive options list.
