BMWBLOG’s original series “Photo Comparisons” returns today with a new side-by-side comparison. The new 2015 BMW X6 is pitted against the future Mercedes-Benz ML-Coupe.

The new F16 BMW X6 still doesn’t have a real competitor at its market launch, but only a few months later, Mercedes will unleash their ML-Coupe, the first off-roader with similar coupe-like features and aiming at the same customer.

While in the case of the X6, the F15 X5 serves as the base model, Mercedes-Benz uses their ML as a technical platform for M-Class Coupe. The current generation of M-Class has been on the market since 2011 and is built at the U.S. plant in Tuscaloosa, where also Mercedes MLC Coupe could run off the assembly line.

The grille and headlights are very GLA with a more dynamic. The many folds and creases in the hood and doors also give the concept a sportier look inspired by the GLA again. Mercedes says the rear end was inspired by the S-Class Coupe.

The slopping curve of the roof is actually quite reminiscent of the X6, with a combination of modern and sportiness in a single package.

In our image comparison, we see the BMW X6 M50d with M Sport package and the Mercedes-Benz ML-Coupe Concept unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show.

With the caveat that the MB MLC might slightly change its design for production, let us know in the comments below which one you like best.
