The E36 BMW models were sold from 1991 through 1999 and their design have been many times labeled as the “Dolphin Shape”. It was the successor to the E30 3 Series and was eventually replaced by the E46 3 Series in 1998. Initially, the E36 bimmers were only available as a 4-door sedan, but shortly after other variants were offered as well.

The model used here for the shooting is the E36 1.6 liter version powered by a four-cylinder valve engine. The M40 1.6 and 1.8 8 valve engines were used for the first E36 sedans but they were soon replaced by the more advanced M43. The 1.6 liter variant produces 100 horsepower and 141 Nm (104 lb-ft) at 4250 rpm.

The E36 sedans, coupes, and estates employed the “Z-axle” multilink suspension in the rear which had been proven in the Z1

The E36 experienced enormous success in the market. It laid strong foundations for the success that the BMW E46 enjoyed in subsequent years.
