BMW’s Frozen Gray M5 will catch your eye from a distance if you peruse the NYIAS floor this year in NYC. You will also, likely, feel an insatiable need to reach out and touch it.

BMW’s matte finish paint feels very different to the touch than regular automotive paint. It’s soft – almost velvety. It’s lovely to touch – and look at – just don’t pet it too often our you’ll discolor it. Shame.

If the understated looks of BMW’s M cars have you thinking Italian, you may do well to consider matte paint for your ride. The “Frozen” colours will attract enough attention to fill any ego – or the pleasure center of your own brain, should you be altruistic in your paint selection.

Enjoy laying your eyes on the Frozen Gray M5 if you stop by the NYIAS this year.

My suggestion is to stay far away from the frozen paint options.  If anything gets on the paint and it isn’t immediately removed it will be ruined and cost 5 times as much to repaint.  There is not buffing/wet sanding that can be done on this finish, so even fine scratches are permanent.  So unless you live somewhere that’s 70 degrees and sunny 365 days a year and is built inside a glass bubble to keep the birds out, buyer beware.
