Leading from the front is where you want to be. Being followed by others and not to follow them. But at the same time, pioneering is a very exposed positions to be in. Bangle and van Hooydonk both said on different occasions that they had learned from their pioneering designs and foreward thinking. But so is the competition (learning from BMWs lead). I know for a fact that car design would have been at a different place right now if it wasn't for BMW, and I like where it is :) BMW is so far ahead in the looking ahead department.
