March 2027 is when the iX3 40 and iX3 40 xDrive are now expected to land in America, according to same forum source with a solid track record on Neue Klasse details. BMW’s US lineup currently has one iX3: the 50 xDrive, which will launch in America in September at $61,500 before the $1,350 destination charge, with 463 hp, a 108.7 kWh battery, and up to 434 miles of EPA range. Unlike the 40, that’s not a rumor anymore.
BMW officially unveiled the iX3 40 at the end of March, confirming a rear-mounted motor good for 315 hp and 369 lb-ft, an 82.6 kWh battery in place of the 50 xDrive’s 108.7 kWh pack, a 5.9-second sprint to 62 mph, and a 124 mph top speed. It went up for order in Europe in late May, priced from €63,400, roughly €7,500 less than the 50 xDrive, with a WLTP range of 396 miles despite the smaller battery.
The 40 xDrive is a different story. BMW has confirmed the 40 exists; it has not confirmed the all-wheel-drive version, though it’s been described as coming “in the near future” for Europe. An earlier report from the same source that’s now talking up March 2027 had already put US production of both the 40 and 40 xDrive at November 2026 in Debrecen, four months behind the European-market car.
A November production start and a March delivery date line up well. BMW needed about six months to get the 50 xDrive from its March 2026 North American production start to a September showroom date, so a shorter four-month gap for the 40 isn’t unreasonable, particularly for a car that shares most of its architecture with a model already in full production.
Pricing, Still Unconfirmed
BMW hasn’t announced US pricing for either 40 variant. The German-market iX3 40 undercuts the 50 xDrive by about 10 percent, and applying that same gap to the $61,500 US 50 xDrive puts a base American 40 somewhere in the mid-$50,000s. That’s higher than the sub-$55,000 figure floated back in April for the 40 xDrive specifically, which would sit above the base 40 once it arrives. BMW has room to land anywhere in that range, especially since the 50 xDrive already launched above its own earliest rumored price.
None of this is official for the US market, and BMW has yet to confirm the 40 xDrive as a US product at all.
