Announced earlier this year, the MINI Clubman and MINI Countryman models in JCW guise are getting a new engine for the 2020 model year. This will be the most powerful 2-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine BMW ever put into production cars and it’s bound to transform the largest cars MINI ever made. They were offered in John Cooper Works guise before but now they get a much-deserved bump in power output.

As you may very well know, the new JCW engine has 300 HP coming out of the small, turbocharged 2-liter mill. 332 lb-ft of torque are accompanying it.

All of that power and twist is being sent to all four corners of the car via the ALL4 all-wheel drive transmission and an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Those two will help these cars reach eye-watering speeds in no time. Actually, in some time, 4.9 and 5.1 seconds respectively for the Countryman, to be more precise.

MINI launched a new marketing campaign to emphasize just how fast the new models are, They focus mostly on the speed and sharp character of the two, highlighting what’s supposed to be a very engaging experience behind the wheel. Everything’s covered, from pitting them against each other to expressing exactly how you feel while waiting at the red light.

The new cars don’t only feature new engines. They also have a different cooling system to handle the extra power along with a new exhaust and bigger John Cooper Works brakes. Furthermore, even the chassis was modified to some extent, to better cope with the new performance levels.

All of that combines to help create some of the most exciting MINI products ever made. Does all of that transpire through the videos below, though? Judge for yourself.
