The BMW M2 needs no introduction. It is one of the most loved car in BMW’s portfolio, and for good reason; it’s a fast, agile and compact with a low price tag. What more could you ask? Well, according to sources, you could ask for a BMW M2 CS. The rumored, enhanced version of the M2 is slated to be revealed later this year and that means testing has to be wrapped up.

As we can see from the video below, the BMW M2 CS is still pretty much being pushed to the limit on the Nurburgring. The footage was shot last week and shows the hardcore M2 being thrown around the good old Green Hell. In the process, it passes some other cars, while punishing its tires.

According to our sources, the M2 CS is going to be a pretty hardcore choice and will only be in production for a limited time, meaning you have to move fast if you want to grab one.

Under the hood, the S55 engine will be the same as the one used on the M4 Competition. That’s 444 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque, in case you were wondering. The BMW M2 CS will also be available with optional carbon ceramic brakes and will have some more aero bits added to it as standard. Weight saving measures will be applied, of course, probably shaving several pounds off its generous hips.

We’ll also get a couple of color choices for the exterior and some bespoke interior bits, that would tell anyone around that this is a special BMW M2. One of the biggest surprises BMW has in store for it though is that it will be offered with both a manual and an automatic 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Now that’s good news for all of us!
