The guys from CarWow decided to put together a couple of all-wheel drive cars and have themselves a drag race to celebrate the arrival of the new Porsche 911 in the world. Therefore, they got together a couple of cars to check how they match up but the comparison isn’t exactly fair and you’re going to see why. The list of cars goes like this: new 911, GT-R Nismo, Audi R8 and BMW M850i xDrive.

The latter is the one Matt has for testing purposes for a longer period of time. It is the top of the range version in the 8 Series line-up so far, coming with a reworked version of the N63 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that is now making 530 HP and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. It also comes with xDrive as standard which means it’s going to be pretty fast off the line, BMW claiming a 0-62 mph time of 3.6 seconds.

Two of the other cars here are more powerful and also come with all wheel drive though. The Audi R8 is the most powerful car here, with 620 HP thanks to the Performance upgrade. Then there’s the legendary Nissan GT-R in Nismo guise, with 600 HP delivered by its 3.8-liter V6 twin-turbo mill. The Nissan also comes with its blazing fast launch control that earned it the nickname ‘Godzilla’ ever since it first came out.

The Porsche 911 Carrera 4S name means this car is an all-wheel drive model and has a 3-liter flat six engine making 450 HP and 530 Nm of torque. It is the least powerful car here but it is also the lightest. Thus, the results should be interesting. And they are, leaving me quite curious since the M850i seemed abnormally slow in the first race, prompting me to guess Launch Control wasn’t used on the car, which is otherwise seriously quick. Admittedly, the competition is fierce but still, the difference between them was too big, in my opinion.
